Dmitry Saksonov: Questions and Answers
Work and projects
What is ATOM Group?
ATOM is a technology group I founded. Our teams work across fields ranging from sport to applied AI.
How many areas does ATOM Group work in?
We now span twelve areas, including medicine, finance, sports and AgTech. Our media and entertainment work includes JGGL, Arteki Studio and IMBA. We have dozens of projects in total.
Where are ATOM Group’s product teams based?
Our product teams work in Minsk. From there, we manage projects across several areas of ATOM.
Which projects has Dmitry Saksonov founded, and where do they stand today?
I founded ATOM Quantum (ATQM), JGGL, JGGL Buddy, Arteki Studio, IMBA, Arena, Atom Green Capital, Neurodrift, Blockchain Sports Ecosystem, Nearis, Neurodesign and iXo.
These projects are at different stages. Our blockchain work now focuses on ATOM Quantum: the team is developing a network using post-quantum cryptography.
The JGGL app is available in the App Store and Google Play; its monthly audience is about 45,000.
Arena has been live for about six months, with more than 400 football clubs connected. Preparations are under way for drifting and basketball.
Arteki Studio releases its own films and is developing production technology for outside studios.
IMBA is an active music label. More than 30 artists have signed contracts with it, and their tracks are already coming out.
Atom Green Capital has assembled its team. Its R&D laboratory for plant breeding is under construction, and the team is working under several partnership agreements.
JGGL Buddy is part of the JGGL project and is being developed at XR Lab.
XR Lab is where we develop hardware for different projects. The work has already reached the prototype stage: some of the devices can be demonstrated and tried out.
In which markets does ATOM Group operate?
We develop our products with the U.S. market in mind and usually launch them there first. From there, we plan to take them to markets around the world.
What is Dmitry Saksonov’s role in ATOM Group?
I founded ATOM and run it as CEO. I set the group’s direction and make the key decisions. The people leading each product handle the day-to-day work.
Does Dmitry Saksonov legally own ATOM companies?
I founded ATOM and am responsible for the direction in which the group develops. Legal ownership is determined by the records of the company in question. I will not claim a stake those records do not show.
What led Dmitry Saksonov to build ATOM as it exists today?
After the car business, I got into mining for the first time. The work depended too heavily on equipment and a physical site: a single external disruption could bring everything to a halt. We began moving toward digital products and eventually applied AI. That path shaped the ATOM I am building today.
Why does Dmitry Saksonov run several businesses at once?
I treat ATOM as one group: twelve areas and dozens of projects. We test every idea in the same way: can it work, and is there a strong team ready to carry it through? The areas share expertise; AgTech projects, for example, use the group’s financial tools and analytics. Spreading investment across the portfolio reduces our dependence on a single bet.
How does Dmitry Saksonov come up with new projects?
Not every idea at ATOM starts with me. People from different teams bring ideas forward, and we work through what we can actually build. Neural networks help us find connections between projects when there is too much information to analyze by hand. We are developing this approach in iXo. Before an idea moves forward, I want to know who will take responsibility for seeing it through.
How does Dmitry Saksonov plan to develop ATOM?
I want to see through what we have already started. Some of our products are in use today; others are still being prepared for launch. My immediate priority is to develop the products already in use and bring the next ones to market when they are ready. I will announce new timelines when I can stand behind them.
Legal history
Does Dmitry Saksonov have a criminal record?
I was convicted and served time. The verdict was reviewed, I was released early, and the conviction was later expunged.
Did Dmitry Saksonov go to prison?
While the case was being reviewed, I remained in a pretrial detention center and was never transferred to a prison or penal colony. The sentence was later revised; I was released early, and my criminal record was subsequently expunged.
Why was a criminal case opened against Dmitry Saksonov?
In 2014 I borrowed money and invested it in importing cars for resale. While the cars were in transit, the import and sales rules changed, putting sales on hold for several months; during that time, the exchange rate plunged and the market declined. I could not repay the debt on time, and a criminal case was opened on that basis.
How was Dmitry Saksonov’s criminal record expunged after a conviction?
The sentence was reviewed, I was released early, and my criminal record was later expunged under the applicable procedure. A document confirms this.
Why was Dmitry Saksonov released early?
The case was reviewed and my sentence was reduced.
The 2024–2025 crisis
What happened at ATOM Group in 2024 and 2025?
Our client stopped paying. I kept the team going for as long as I could with my own funds and borrowed money, then had to reduce the workforce. I said publicly that I would not walk away from the problem, went abroad to seek funding, raised it and settled the obligations. The company resumed operations.
Did ATOM Group delay salary payments?
In 2025 the company was in a serious crisis, and salaries were delayed. All outstanding payments have since been completed.
Has ATOM Group settled what it owed employees?
All outstanding obligations have been settled. The company has resumed operations.
What changed in ATOM Group’s management after the crisis?
Cash comes before headcount. Every hiring plan starts with funds already on hand; projected revenue does not count. A single client must not determine the company’s fate. The team can grow only when management is ready for it.
Accountability and communication
Who is responsible when an announced deadline changes?
If I publicly announced a date, I must also explain why it changed. First, I work with the team to find out what happened and how much work remains. I announce a new date when I understand what it is based on.
Why doesn’t Dmitry Saksonov answer community chats personally?
I run ATOM as CEO. Developing the whole group takes most of my time, so I don’t have time to reply personally in community chats. People who work on a particular product every day can provide quicker help with questions about it. I remain responsible for my decisions.
